Jet Setting Irish Producer Sian has announced that he will be releasing his second album (2 Meters Above Midnight) on his Octopus Records Imprint in May. We caught up with him for a quick chat

A lot of people don’t know you’re from Dublin but here you are, touring the world. Where is DJing taking you next?
Yes, I’m originally from Dublin. It’s been quite surreal lately and have been to some pretty far out spots. South Africa, Venezuela, China, Thailand and Australia gigs stand out as pretty special locations.  Next im off to Mexico City, Juarez, New york,and 4 shows in Miami for WMC. Then onto Russia and Thailand and the thai Islands for some gigs.

So this is your second album. How did you approach this one?
Yes it’s the second time I have felt a bunch of tracks started sounding coherent. Thats kinda my approach, just work on music till some similar ideas join up and become a fitting story with a beginning, middle, and end.

Octopus Records seems to be going from strength. What artists do you have working with you at the moment?
Yeah we are super happy that the hard work has started getting attention. It’s mostly my own releases and Jay Lumen, Darren Emerson, Ambivalent, Daryl Stay etc appearing alongside me. We also have some great remixers coming onto the label soon, Marc Houle and Oliver Huntemann etc. Im excited about those two!

You’re doing events at Miami WMC and Sonar this year?
Yep, we are kinda building a tradition now with those and ADE. We do a label event at each one, usually with artist friends, label mates, and special guests etc. This year in WMC we have Marc Houle Live which is quite special.

Any interesting side projects on at the moment? Whats next?
Yes we are just about to launch a remix contest with Beatport and AIAIAI Headphones for the album. Details will be on the Beatport site and our facebooks soon. Winner will feature alongside Marc Houle and Oliver Huntemann on the album remix pack and also win some AIAIAI gear. Also i just did an EP for Victor Calderone´s label in New York which was a great honour.
